Well I've just spent the last 2 days setting up some rather old servers (3 of them),they are so old they have MCA cards in them. I had to hunt down some 10/100 Ethernet cards that would fit. But they are all up and happily humming away, all sweet like they are the latest cutting edge technology. One of the boxes I know is at least 11 years old as its last Firmware update was 1994. So can you tell what they are?
I live in Portsmouth, Hampshire with my gorgeous wife Jax, and our lovely son PJ (Peter John) and our equally lovely daughter Josie.
I'm in my 40's now (75), working in the IT sector. Most of the time building, configuring and designing UNIX/Linux servers for various companies. IBM, SSE, CLS and lots more. In my own time, not the bit that involves home, kids and other such things I like to paint and draw. A mix of digital art at the moment and miniature painting. I also own a couple of motorcycles, though they don't see the time they once did.
A selection of my favorite words are: Coracle…. (Small, ancient, round boat. Just fits one). Oscillate…. (To rotate back and forth). Badger…. (Self-explanatory I think). I also like the word ‘perpendicular’ too, though Jax did have to explain it to me.

IBM something or others I'd guess.
With an MCA card in them they've got to be IBM clunkers.
Probably 486's, at that.
I didn't realize there were 10/100 MCA cards!
Hey, are they running AIX?
Oh, and do you have to park their heads?
Yes.. IBM..
No fires.. people still use them so we have to do DR's for them.
It's just your bog standard 3 1/2" floppy ;-)
All I know is they are 1 UniProc and 4x112mz and 6x112mhz RISC boxes and they run AIX.. Ones running 4.1.5, no parking required.
Better AIX than OS400, that's what Grampa always said.
Really???? what other bizzare things did Grampa say?
No blog for over a week:(
Something will be arriving today.
He also said, "You can never trust the French with a low-level operating system."
and
"EDI is for anal retentives"
